“Force has no place where there is need of skill.” – Herodotus
Our entire approach is based on experiential learning. Practices should be realistic, authentic, and productive.
Proper technique is incredibly important and always formed best when applied in context. Although we do sometimes incorporate Thai pads and other catching tools, we primarily focus on utilizing the tool across from you… your willing and able training partners.
Each week focuses on a different striking sequence and/or goal-driven attack while maintaining adherence to our Roufusport Kickboxing Association curriculum and ranking standards. By maximizing our time spent in controlled sparring and live exchange volleys, our students learn that this doesn’t have to be pretty to be highly effective. Right and wrong are fluid concepts, objectively based in their successful execution. This is fighting; fighting is as complex, strategic, and dynamic as it is loose, playful, and disconnected.
We do this to make absolutely sure that our students both maximize their training time spent on the mats and start building their own style from their first day; taking full advantage of the safe, fun, and fresh learning environment that we maintain.
Fighting is scary, but fear only exists where preparation does not. Focusing on the tried-and-true techniques available within Muay Thai, American and Dutch Kickboxing (with some traditional martial arts flare), allows our students to learn striking as a language where fluency is our collective aspiration.
